Politicians, if that is what we should call them, are a very funny breed. I don’t know if it has always been the case but the current members of the House of Commons, with one or two notable exceptions, seem to me to be lost in a morass of contradictory thought and opinion. Male and female members, on all sides of the house, appear to delight in exhibiting the very characteristics that, if they were to exhibit them in every day scenarios, would see them roundly and justifiably challenged.
How has this come about? One of the problems and possibly the biggest one stems from the fact that so few of them have ever had anything remotely resembling a proper job. Many have never worked outside the Westminster bubble since leaving education and many, especially those who consider themselves “progressive liberal free thinkers” are anything but. They find themselves in a constant state of flux because everything that isn’t “progressive and liberal” has to be wrong, no matter how right it is.
Currently there is some brouhaha within political and media circles surrounding the forthcoming state visit to our country of probably the single most powerful man in World politics, PotUS Donald J Trump. This hissy fit, initially instigated by that paragon of political virtue John Bercow, over whether or not the PotUS “grabbed a fanny”, has accelerated exponentially since three tweets, originally posted by Britain First and picked up by American ultra-conservative Anne Coulter Nile were re-tweeted from the Presidents twitter account. There is little doubt in anyone’s mind that at least two of the videos contain graphic images of atrocities being carried out by Muslims in the name of Allah. The third video, strangely enough the one that the MSM and the political cognoscenti have concentrated on, holds less veracity but is, in its own way, just as shocking. It clearly shows a young man on crutches being beaten by men of “Asian” appearance who may or may not, be the offspring of Muslim immigrants.
Let me just clarify something at this point, the content of the videos is secondary to the feelings and wishes of our political and media elite. They have made it clear, in statement after statement and, somewhat ironically, in tweet after tweet, that whatever is done in the name of Islam we must not confront it, ever. For the sake of community cohesion, diversity, inclusivity, integration or other consideration we must continue to say Islam is a Religion of Peace. When it becomes clear to the whole nation, shocked at the random brutality of this strange ideology that it is anything but, we must then say that said random brutality is nothing to do with Islam. We are told these things and then, once the smoke has settled and the blood has been washed from the pavements, we are told the most confusing thing of all, at least to most people.
Do not look in a funny way at Muslims, do not tweet about them, do not talk about them in public, do not laugh at them and do not denigrate their wonderful religion and beautiful peaceful culture because, if you do, then this could lead to more terrorism. Maybe it’s just me but if Islam is a religion of peace and Islamic terrorism has nothing to do with Islam why would questioning the motives and ideologies of it lead it to commit acts of barbaric random terror. Something of a conundrum, I think you’ll agree. All this though is background, grist to the mill if you will, what we are talking about really is how the inexperienced, brainwashed and indoctrinated make it into Parliament and proceed to inflict their own standards and beliefs on the nation.
As I said previously I could offer up countless examples of inexperienced and permanently confused politicians but there is one particular person that has caught my attention this week: The Right Honourable Stella Creasy MP. This woman is the member for Walthamstow and is listed on Wikipedia as being a “Co-Operative Labour MP”. Hailing from Sutton Coldfield, Stella is the product of a Labour family, albeit a rather privileged one. She has aristocratic blood running through her veins, being closely related to both Viscounts and Barons.
Although she failed the 11 plus (I didn’t know it still existed in 1988) her parents moved to Colchester where she managed to achieve a place at Colchester Grammar School for Girls (strangely enough my eldest daughters Alma Mater). It is outside my knowledge as to whether the move south was facilitated to ensure a chance of attending one of the best state schools in Britain; Labour party members committed to equality of opportunity wouldn’t do such a thing, surely?
Anyway, Stella must have done well as she went on to study Politics at Magdalene and the LSE before interning at the Fabian Society. One can only assume that her more than comfortably off parents who had moved to Essex possibly to ensure a selective education for their daughter financed this period of her formative years, I can find no record of her ever undertaking paid employment before she became a paid lobbyist and PR consultant and then Head of Public Affairs for the Scout Association.
It seems that Ms Creasy’s political future was mapped out from an early age, she became a councillor in Walthamstow , then Deputy Mayor before serving as Mayor for a short period prior to her selection to stand for Parliament having been chosen from an all female short list (see how it works). Walthamstow is the safest of seats for Labour. It’s a diverse, fully enriched, deprived shit hole to the East of London which makes it perfect stomping ground for a female Labour MP who is short on experience and understanding of the real world but long on “causes”, sound bites and virtue signalling. She is passionate about “feminism” which is quite startling given that many of her female constituents will be non English speaking second or third wives of kebab shop workers, Uber Drivers and benefit scroungers.
Stella is also “passionate” about other things too, she’s passionate about immigration and firmly believes that it should continue, unchecked, not just from within the EU but from the wider world, she’s passionate about “refugees”, believing that this country has a moral and probably historical duty to offer them homes, money and all the benefits of living in an ostensibly free and modern society. She is also passionate about the EU, she has so little faith in herself, her colleagues in Parliament and the people of this country in general that she cannot envisage a way that Britain can survive outside its corrupt and pervasive grasp.
We see then that Stella is passionate about a lot of things, she is a campaigner for the rights of minorities and for “wimmin”. She is one of many that will, she says, line the streets of our Capital to protest the State Visit of Donald Trump. She will not though condone the violence that is being mooted by her Momentum fellow travellers and that multi faced, multi opined idiot Owen Jones. Not for her such shallow and emotive outpourings of faux indignation and affected rage. Stella, as befits her position as an employee of the people, an honourable member of Parliament and a champion of a myriad of causes will wear “Shocking Pink” and a pussy hat. Think on that when you next read about how much Parliamentarians are being paid and when they have the temerity to call you stupid, racist, parochial, xenophobic, Islamophobic, Transphobic, Homophobic or any one of a hundred insults not yet invented. Shocking Pink and a pussy hat. What times we live in.
